US Market Entry: A Case Study
A small start-up aiming to establish a presence in the United States procured its initial product and engaged NuEra to manage all promotional items for launch and beyond. This included the formation of a PRC committee, the assignment of an experienced contract Regulatory Reviewer, and the development of review and project management processes and procedures. To date, NuEra's seven-year relationship with this client endures, and we have had the privilege of assisting with promotion management and regulatory review for two additional products launches.

Outsourcing PRC Roles for Successful Product Launch

A virtual start-up organization sought assistance with resources and engaged NuEra to fill several PRC positions with outsourced, qualified PRC members who could help with product launch and post-launch activities. Initially, NuEra helped develop promotional policies and procedures as none were in place at that time. Concurrently, NuEra recruited multiple reviewers to fill PRC slots on an outsourced basis, including Regulatory and Medical Affairs roles. Following NuEra’s advice, the client hired a contracted Legal Reviewer who reported to their legal group. Review meetings were held via videoconference and all launch items were reviewed by Medical, Legal, and Regulatory teams in preparation for the launch, successfully demonstrating the use of outsourced resources for reviews.
Enhancing Promotion Management through Strategic Outsourcing

NuEra was engaged by a mid-sized pharmaceutical company to assist in reorganizing their promotion management. This involved rewriting job descriptions, policies, and processes, as well as aiding in the recruitment of an experienced promotions manager. Through NuEra’s Rapid Assessment process, it became evident that PRC reviewers were dedicating significant time to copy-editing promotional materials. Consequently, it was decided to contract a Copy Editor through NuEra who would participate on the review team to ensure accuracy and reduce the copy-editing responsibilities of other PRC members. Initially contracted for a short-term pilot, the outsourced Editor has continued in this role for over five years. Contributions include not only editing promotional materials but also creating several reference documents essential to the success of the promotion management process at this organization.
Restructuring Marketing Operations for Efficiency
NuEra's Rapid Assessment process led to a restructuring of Marketing Operations in this Fortune 500 pharma company. To optimize resources and talent, NuEra created a new structure and aligned roles and responsibilities. They introduced a new review policy, streamlined processes, and implemented tools to reduce workload on project managers and review teams, paving the way for successful adoption of new technology.
Keeping Reviews Going While Optimizing Promotion Management
In less than 8 days, NuEra took over the review process to prevent the company from halting all reviews until permanent hires could be made. Concurrently, NuEra performed a Rapid Assessment of relevant processes, removed non-essential tasks, and implemented a revised process that reduced time spent on review and rework. New job descriptions were developed, longer-term process improvements were suggested, and a business case for an automated system was completed.
Mentorship and Role Transition for Enhanced Team Performance
A project manager with limited people management experience was promoted to Team Leader of a small staff. NuEra provided a Subject Matter Expert who mentored the individual through bi-weekly sessions focused on discussion of timely issues and provide advice. The manager aimed to enhance upfront planning and shift her team from a service-oriented role with Marketing stakeholders to a partnering relationship. Clear roles were established, communication and planning improved, and the manager and her team are now performing confidently in their roles.
